This evening make your way to the Los Angeles for your overnight flight to Melbourne.
Day 2: International Date Line
During your flight, you will cross the International Date Line.
Day 3: Melbourne
On arrival in Melbourne you will be met and transferred to your accommodation for a 3-night stay.
This afternoon, make your own way to Federation Square to join your Afternoon Lanes and Arcades tour. Join this indulgent afternoon walk through Melbourne’s beautiful back streets, and get orientated in the life of the city that locals love. Discover artisan and specialty retailers, and see quirky cafes, independent designers, street art, architecture and learn of historic tales in these walkways. Day 4: Great Ocean Road (B,L)
Embark on a day-long Great Ocean Road adventure with a city hotel pickup. Starting in Torquay, enjoy coastal roads, wildlife sightings, and gourmet treats in Lorne. Your guide will showcase scenic lookouts and share the road’s history. Stop at Kennett River to spot koalas and native birds. Savor a gourmet lunch in Apollo Bay, explore a temperate rainforest in the Otway Ranges, and learn about ancient history. After breakfast, transfer to Sydney Airport for your onward flight to Ayers Rock. On arrival transfer to your accommodation for a 2-night stay. This afternoon, journey to Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), where your knowledgeable guide will unveil the wonders of this varied landscape. Upon reaching Walpa Gorge, you’ll stroll amidst the impressive conglomerate domes, learning about the millions of years of evolution that have shaped the 36 domes comprising Kata Tjuta. Your guide will ensure a safe return to your hotel at the tour’s end.
Day 7: Ayers Rock (B,D)
Experience the serene pre-dawn desert landscape under a starlit canopy with Uluru and Kata Tjuta as your backdrop. Day 8: Ayers Rock – Cairns – Port Douglas
Transfer to Ayers Rock Airport for your flight to Cairns. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to Port Douglas for your 4-night stay. The remainder of your day is free to relax and enjoy the Resort facilities.
Day 9: Port Douglas (B)
Today is free to relax or explore the region at your leisure. Thala’s Nature Reserve supports many interesting and rare habitats with a constantly changing kaleidoscope of natural wonders, making the experience very rewarding for naturalists and wildlife photographers. Their highly knowledgeable Rangers and Guides are here to show you Thala’s many wildlife and nature secrets. From nature and garden walks, bird and butterfly walks to stargazing.
Day 10: Great Barrier Reef (B,L)
This morning, your adventure begins with a hotel pickup, taking you to the cruise departure point in Port Douglas for an unforgettable day trip to the Low Isles with Sailaway VI. Arrive at the Sailaway office at the marina by 8:00am. Upon boarding, you’ll be greeted with local tea, coffee, pastries, and fresh fruit, followed by a safety briefing. Set sail from Port Douglas at 8:30am, bound for the Low Isles. Upon reaching the Low Isles, receive a snorkel safety briefing and equipment, then transfer to the beach for a variety of activities like swimming, snorkeling, guided tours by a marine naturalist, heritage walks, or simply unwinding under a coconut palm tree. Return to Sailaway VI for a tropical buffet lunch on board. After lunch, the adventures continue. Relax on deck, snorkel off the back of the boat, or take a swim. Enjoy afternoon tea with coffee, cakes, and fresh fruit platters. At 3:00 pm, Sailaway VI sets sail from Low Isles, heading back to Port Douglas. The journey concludes as the boat docks in Port Douglas at 4:00pm, followed by your transfer back to your hotel.
Day 11: Kuranda (B)
Depart Port Douglas at 11:00 AM, avoiding the crowds and allowing you a relaxing morning at your Port Douglas accommodation before pick-up. The first stop is the renowned Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, offering breathtaking views of a UNESCO-listed rainforest. Upon reaching Kuranda, you will be met at the Skyrail terminal/Train platform, and driver into the “Village in the Rainforest” without any walking involved. You’ll have 2 hours of free time to explore markets, cafes, and more. Your journey concludes at dusk upon returning to Port Douglas.
Day 12: Port Douglas – Cairns – Sydney (B)
After breakfast, transfer to Cairns Airport for your flight to Sydney. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a 4-night stay. Enjoy exploring the city at your leisure for the remainder of the day.
Day 13: Sydney (B,L)
Embark on a Sydney Harbour luxury cruise to dine at iconic waterside restaurants while marveling at the harbor’s beauty. The journey begins with a warm welcome aboard the cruiser, offering soft drinks, wine, beer, tea, and coffee. Sail past famous landmarks like the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House, accompanied by historical insights. Admire Woolloomoolloo Bay, then pass Double Bay and Point Piper with their lavish homes. Cruise by Clarke and Shark Islands, both national parks, before your first stop at Doyles on the Beach at Watsons Bay for an entrée. After disembarking and dining, resume the cruise past Sydney Heads, Manly, and Middle Head into Middle Harbour. Stop at Balmoral Jetty for the main course at the Balmoral Public Dining Room. Dessert and cheese platters are available onboard. Continue through Middle Harbour, glimpse Sydney’s northern shores, Taronga Zoo, and the Prime Minister’s residence, with an optional swim stop time permitting. This long lunch cruise showcases Sydney Harbour’s beauty and flavors.
Day 14: Blue Mountains (B,L)
Explore the heart of the unique World Heritage Blue Mountains region. Begin at Calmsley Hill, a scenic working farm near Sydney, where you can interact with native and farmyard animals, including Kangaroos and Koalas, while enjoying morning tea. Next, head to the Blue Mountains, visiting stunning Jamison Valley outlooks away from the crowds. Stop at Eaglehawk Lookout to view the iconic Three Sisters rock formation and hear its legends. Lunch is at the Hydro Majestic Hotel, offering beautiful views and a two-course meal (beverages at your expense). Explore more scenic lookouts in the afternoon, including Govett’s Leap with its 180m waterfall. Finally, unwind at Mt Tomah Botanic Gardens with panoramic views and a glass of sparkling wine or orange juice before returning to your hotel.
Day 15: Sydney (B,D)
Today is free to explore Sydney at your leisure. This evening, enjoy a guided VIP tour of Sydney Opera House followed by Dinner at Bennelong. As you step inside the Sydney Opera House, you’ll be greeted by breathtaking views of the harbor and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Day 16: Depart Sydney (B)
After breakfast, you will be met and transferred to Sydney Airport for your return flight back to the US.
